| (Ste-Croix-de-Lotbinière, Qc. (6-07-10) – Après les voitures de course, les véhicules récréatifs et les belles d’autrefois lors du premier Festival Country Rétro et les poids lourds lors du Festival d’accélération du camion lourd, voilà que le circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway s’apprête à accueillir les adeptes de la moto, ce week-end prochain avec la troisième présence annuelle de l’Association Vintage Road Racing. En effet, cette organisation ontarienne en sera à sa troisième visite dans la région de Lotbinière. Pour les participants, il s’agira alors du deuxième programme d’un calendrier en comportant quatre, mais le seul à être tenu au Québec. Cette organisation existe depuis 1980 et elle offre aux compétiteurs de 16 à 75 ans la possibilité de démontrer leur talent en piste, et ce, aux guidons de motos anciennes (1940-1980) ou classiques. Plusieurs membres de l’organisation, conduisent des motos de route modifiées pour la course. Plusieurs autres sont d’anciens coureurs professionnels et amateurs qui veulent s’en tenir strictement à la monture avec laquelle, ils ont connu passablement de succès dans le passé. C’est précisément dans ces catégories que les amateurs revivront d’excellents souvenirs en les voyant évoluer sur le circuit routier de Ste-Croix. En plus des épreuves sur la piste, il se passera beaucoup d’activités à l’extérieur telles qu’une parade de motos, un concours d’élégance, « show & shine » et de nombreux kiosques d’exposants reliés au domaine de la moto. En plus, pour joindre l’utile à l’agréable, le site du circuit Ste-Croix/Riverside Speedway offre également la possibilité de camping. L'admission pour les spectateurs est 25 $ pour la fin de semaine ou 15 $ par jour. Un évènement à ne pas manquer pour ceux qui aiment faire un retour dans le temps ou simplement pour voir de magnifiques pièces de collection en action. Les jeudis À noter que les jeudis, il y a des soirées de « lapping » à ce complexe motorisé. On peut également s’offrir une course entre amis avec la possibilité de location de 20 voitures de stock-car identiques. Naturellement, le plus important programme du mois de juillet aura lieu les 24,25 et 26 juillet à l’occasion du Festival du stock-car. Un programme plus qu’intéressant et diversifié a été prévu et le tout se terminera par la deuxième présence de la série ACT-Castrol Edge sous les réflecteurs, le lundi 26 juillet. Un forfait intéressant de 40$ est offert pour ces trois journées remplies d’action et d’émotions de toutes sortes. | L'enfer 150 approche à grand pas. Cette course aura lieu samedi le 24 juillet à 18h00. En effet, à la demande générale, l'évènement aura lieu en soirée. Règlements Voiture de rue complètement stock avec moteur 4 cylindres ou v6 seulement. Aucune modification permise sur la mécanique ou la suspension, sauf camber de 1" pour la roue droite avant. Il est permis de couper l'échappement sous la voiture. La voiture doit être solide, doit avoir des ceintures de sécurité en bonne condition, des freins fonctionnels aux 4 roues et avoir des pneus en bon état de 300 de tread wear et plus, aucun pneu de série 50 ou 55. La batterie et le réservoir à essence doivent être à leur endroit d'origine et bien fixés. Aucun conduit d'essence à l'intérieur du véhicule. Les planchers et murs à feu doivent être étanche et sécuritaires. Aucune pesée acceptée, aucun dédoublement de carrosserie pour enlever du poids. Il est permis et recommandé d'enlevé toute matière combustible de l'intérieur du véhicule, sauf le tableau de bord et la doublure de porte du conducteur. Toutes les lumières extérieures doivent être enlevées ou recouvertes d'un ruban adhésif solide. Cette opération peut être faite sur place pour ceux qui arrivent avec un véhicule par la route. Cependant, aucun débris ne sera toléré sur place, les pièces doivent démontées et non cassées. Aucun "prestone", l'antigel doit être remplacé par de l'eau. OBLIGATOIRE. Toute voiture qui selon le jugement de nos officiels représente un risque potentiel en raison de son état sera refusée. Vêtements de coton à manches longues ou habit anti-feu et casque obligatoire. Inscription Nous vous suggerons de vous inscrire d'avance. Le formulaire d'inscription est disponible sur notre site web sous la rubrique "fiche d'inscription des pilotes", vous pouvez me le faxer au 418-888-4119. L'inscription est payable sur place le 24 juillet au montant de 25$ pour la voiture. Bourses : 1er 500$, 2ième 250$ 3ième 125$ Entrée : Adultes 10 dollars pour les estrades ( 12 ans et moins gratuit). Pour les puits 15$ adultes et 5$ enfants de 12 ans et moins. | THE CLUB The Vintage Road Racing Association (VRRA), Canada's classic and vintage roadracing association, was founded in 1980 by a group of enthusiasts who just wanted to get their treasured machines back on the track. Their avowed purpose: to ensure the preservation of racing motorcycles and to maintain the traditions of racing vintage, and now classic, motorcycles in Canada. The Association has grown and flourished in the ensuing years and now actively promotes four racing events to encourage and expand participation in the sport. The VRRA is the only motorcycle association in Canada devoted solely to classic and vintage road racing - encompassing 1940s to 1980s machines - and is the oldest such organization in North America. The spirit and tradition of club racing are the heart of the association. Members share a strong sense of competition and camaraderie; often entire families are involved. Competitors range from 16 to 75 years of age, all with an active and youthful attitude. Many members are "budget racers", riding street-based machines that have been modified for racing. Others are ex-racers professionals and amateurs who like to stay with the bikes they raced so successfully in years past. An award winning newsletter and an excellent web site help new members adapt to this fun and exciting sport. New racing members who have never raced or who have not raced for ten years are required to take a racing school prior to competing in a VRRA event. New members who have raced previously will require some proof or confirmation of their prior experience. You don't have to be a racer to belong to the VRRA. Non-racing members are vital to the long-term success of the club - as event volunteers, mechanics, bike builders and owners, scoring and timers, tech inspectors, grid workers, marshals and fans. EVENTS The premier classic/vintage roadracing event in Canada is the VRRA's three day Motorcycle Festival held annually at Mosport International Raceway on the third weekend in August. While Mosport has long been recognized as the finest road race facility in Canada, many changes and upgrades have elevated its status considerably. It now ranks among the best in North America. This GP-class circuit with its elevation changes, high-speed straights and challenging corners attracts racers and street riders from Canada, USA and Europe to the Festival. Typical special races at the Motorcycle Festival at Mosport are: * The Masters: for riders over 50 years of age riding any eligible machine, * The Warwick Cup: for 350cc and 500cc motorcycles of British only manufacture, held in memory of Doug Warwick, racer and one of VRRA's founders. * Endurance Race: a multi-class 2-hour race with teams of up to three riders open to machines from all periods. (See Classes & Regulations) * The Vintage Challenge open to all classes where no trophies are provided but competitor's placings are drawn for up to nine prizes. Growing in popularity each year is the first VRRA event of the season, the Quinte TT at Shannonville MSP near Belleville, on the third weekend in June. In 2002, the race and attendant activities were upgraded and the event renamed to commemorate races held in the streets of Belleville in the mid-1930s. The final event of the season is the highly successful Runway Romp in North Bay. The airport, while fully operational, invites us to present two days of racing and motorcycle events in early September. This is the style in which it all began. The abandoned airfields of post-war England and Canada became race tracks for thousands of amateur racers and enthusiastic fans. Strong, widespread support from the community and the City of North Bay has unquestionably put this event on the map. New in 2004 is the introduction of an event in Quebec at St. Eustache near Montreal. This event to be held in late July will encourage more participation from riders from La Belle Province and offers members a unique racing opportunity! The four racing events offer two or three action-packed days of classic & vintage motorcycle activity, featuring solo machines and sidecars in heat races and finals - with the added spectacle of a class for modern state of the art sidecars. Additionally, Parade Laps for street riders, Concours d' Elegance, Show 'n' Shine, Manufacturers Demo Rides, informal Swap Meet, and static displays, make these weekends great destinations for all ages of bikes and riders. A moderate general admission includes camping privileges at most venues. With a long-standing relationship with the RACE (Racing Associates Canada Events) series, VRRA members can also participate in specified vintage race at events run by RACE at Shannonville MSP. VRRA maintains a reciprocal agreement that encourages riders/members from USA and Canada to travel to major events at each other's home tracks. Organizations such as the east coast Atlantic Motorcycle Competition Riders Association (AMCRA) in Nova Scotia; the US Classic Racing Association (USCRA) and WERA Motorcycle Roadracing (formerly the Western Eastern Roadracers Association), in the USA, are included. Many members also travel to venues in the USA to take part in events organized by the American Historic Motorcycle Racing Association (AHMRA). |
